Columbus Day in the United States. It's a day when many Americans have the day off work or school in honor of Italian explorer
Christopher Columbus, who landed in the New World on October 12, 1492. Many people celebrate Columbus Day
with a parade or by spending time with loved ones.
The Mew Crew, of course, is celebrating today with a Columbus Day-themed
Black Cat Awareness Month post!
Today we're featuring a cute all black kitty named Muggy and her own "foreign explorer". Let's meet Muggy, shall we?
Internet, meet Muggy. Muggy? Meet the Internet.
 |
| "Ooh, shiny!" |
The explorer she found was foreign alright, but it wasn't from Italy. It was a
stink bug! They're also called asian shield bugs and the Mid-Atlantic has been having a sort of invasion recently.
 |
| Have you seen this bug? |
One of these little suckers had made its way indoors (they're very tricksy, as you'll see).
Little did he know that Muggy was waiting for him before he even left the window.
 |
| "Ah ha! Here buggy, buggy...just climbs onto my paw..." |
But the Stink Bug realized that this could be a trap. So while Muggy was accidentally distracted with something shiny, he immediately began evasive maneuvers...
 |
| The Stink Bug fakes left, then slides right. |
Muggy then lost the bug, and he thought he was crawling his way to freedom.
 |
| "Wait, Mr. Stink Bug? Wheres you goes?" |
But the photographer tipped Muggy off that the Stink Bug had given her the slip...
 |
| "Oh there you are, little buggy friend..." |
However, the Stink Bug wasn't really interested in being friends...
 |
| "Mr. Stink Bug? I thought we was friends. Come baaaaaaack..." |
And Mr. Stink Bug crawled away to live happily ever after (right after a human put it back outside).
The End.
