And so the lion fell in love with the lamb.

Black Cat Awareness Month continues with a lovely story about a lion and his lamb foster buddy, who happens to be an all black cat.

It's a common misconception that cats are solitary creatures.  Or that dogs and cats don't get along.  Or that bulldog breeds have aggressive personalities or definitely wouldn't be good with a small animal.   If you believe in any of these things, then this post is going to be a real eye opener!

First, let's talk about the lamb. His name is Mugsy and he's a 5 month old male kitty who is quite a buddy.  He's nothing but a sweetheart and loves to be picked up and held.  He's also crazy for toys and is just absolutely full of energy. And yes, this little guy is totally up for adoption.

Meet Mugsy.  He's so cute...

All hail The Mugsy!
Now, let's meet the lion.

What kind of lion?  Well his name is Nittany and he's actually an American Bulldog.  You'll see from the pictures below why his name really fits his size.  Nittany is super sweet and more obedient than any other dog we've ever met.  Nit is also the largest dog anyone at The Mew Crew has ever seen.  He's one hunk of muscle, weighing in at...oh 120 lb or so.

Unfamiliar with what an American Bulldog is?  Here's a random photo pulled of the internet...

Nittany = much larger than this puppy.
Nittany, the sweetheart that he is, is a lover of all animals.  He's often found playing with bunnies and other animals in the yard.  Before anyone freaks out in disbelief, yes he REALLY does have bunny friends in the yard. He's a good dog and such a sweetheart.

Ahh, but let's see what Mugsy had to think of all that slobbery love that was about to unleashed on him...

"Uh...you want me to do what now?"
Normally animal introductions can take weeks and weeks. But it only took about a day, which is actually really super speedy (don't try this at home people...we're professionals here...sort of).

And Mugsy wasn't really so sure about meeting that big galoot. He apparently showed off his best puffy tail to let Nittany know that he himself was A Force To Be Reckoned With.

But after being separated by a door and getting used to the smell of each other, they were allowed to meet...

"And this part is your nose?"
A day later, Mugsy and Nittany were both following around the foster like they had always lived there together.  And a day after that, the foster realized that Mugsy was actually more interested in following Nittany.  He'd bat at Nit's collar tags and Nittany was very happy to have this new curious companion sharing his space.

Apparently, Nittany likes the kitty so much he even shares his toys.  Check out a photo of a little tug-o-war session...

Nittany isn't up for adoption, but Mugsy is.  If you are interested in giving Mugsy a forever home, just send us an email at mewcrew [ at ] gmail [ dot ] com.  We have it on pretty good authority that he'll be good with tame dogs of any size and considers being covered in dog slobber as a sign of affection.
