He ain't heavy, he's my brother.

It's another edition of Shadowy Saturdays here on The Mew Crew.  All October long, we're dedicating the blog to promoting Black Cat Awareness Month with a special feature every Saturday about a special kitty named Shadow.

Ain't he cute...
Shadowy as a tiny kitty.
But did you know that Shadow is one half of a bonded pair of kitties?  Meet his brother TG...

Tiny Guy, who is not tiny anymore.

Without his brother, Shadow might not be the loving and funny kitty that he is today.  People often think that cats like to be solitary creatures, but we disagree.  If you've ever observed a colony of cats (tiger, feral, et al), you know what we're talking about.  And having another kitty in your home just gives them one more level of socialization and interaction.

So adopting a bonded pair is a really great thing, particularly if one of them is a beautiful, all black cat.  Unfortunately, not many people realize the potential of a bonded pair of kitties.  Too much fur?  Too much trouble?  Too much work?  The Mew Crew realizes that is just plain crazy talk!

They will keep each other company while you're away at work.  They also keep each other forever amused when you're too busy at home.  Two allows a kitty to feel comfortable while always having someone to relate to that speaks his own language.

When you adopt a bonded pair who grew up together, they really do interact just like two human siblings would.  They'll steal each others toys.  They'll sabotage each others lap time.  They'll break each others food bowls because they think it's funny (Shadow has yet to confess any involvement in The Great Food Bowl Tragedy of 2009).

A pair of kitties are twice the fun, twice the love and makes for tons of great photos.  Trust us, there aren't any downsides to having two.

And now we present some photos of Shadow and his brother TG.

Brothers (arm) in arms.
They like sunlight.
"Enh...Brother your furs is dirties."
"Oh noes, now I am dirties."
Cute.
Aww.  Brothers.
